| Wow. Being a poor performer isn't what comes to my mind when I think of the Midwest. I associate "good old Midwestern work ethic" with people from that part of the country.. Hard working, dependable and loyal. |
??!!What??!! If anything, the Northeast (DC and New York, particularly) are the loosest and most flexible with regard to hiring people from everywhere in the country with absolutely NO ties to either city because lots of young people come from colleges all over the country seeking to get jobs in DC and New York. The only places I've ever seen or encountered geographic "hiring bias" is in smaller cities/ legal markets around the country where everyone has a tie to that city and/or to the local college or law school. This should not even be a consideration for you. It's just silly. |
| I had no problem getting a job in DC when we moved here from Chicago. |
| If you say the words Pop (instead of soda or Coke) or covered dish, or you want to dance the polka, I might look somewhat askance in an interview. Otherwise I think you are fine. |
I say pop. As does my husband. No problems getting jobs. |
Sorry - should have clarified for the midwesterners - IT'S A JOKE. |

+1 probably wouldn't want to be BFF though (because I need someone deeply sarcastic with a touch of evil) |
