Fairfax Principals in Las Vegas

I can assure you that it did occcur. My principal along with the others in the cluster were definitely there. In the private sector this might be ok as it is not taxpayer money. In education where it is funded by taxpayer dollars I am disgusted.....

Vegas? Oh, how classy and educationally stimulating; this is sad. I'm embarrassed for our "world-class school system". ick.

You all need to get a life! Get over yourselves. They all need a chance to collaborate, a separation place in which to do it, a break from your kids (just like you), a break from pain in the ass parents like you, and hopefully they won some extra cash to make up for their measly salaries while they were there! I hope they had a blast and decided they really do need to do away with the AAP program while they were there! Wahahahaha!!!!!

Vegas is one of the cheapest places to have a conference--very inexpensive flights and hotels.

Which conference did they attend?

I'm guessing it was one by Rick & Becky DuFours about Professional Learning Communities. They work for Solution Tree. The DuFours have milked quite a bit from FCPS.

The particular conference operators may not provide anything useful -- I wouldn't know -- but as a PP noted, Vegas is a cheap place to hold a conference. And $2K/head for continuing ed/professional training is very, very little.

So they decided to fly ACROSS the country? <200 participants...tons of places locally without all the travel expense.

How about you grow the stones to get up in public and protest this at the next school board meeting? You're a coward if all you're willing to do is kvetch about it on an anonymous board. Are you a coward?

Again, the vast majority of people won't see a problem with this, and it's really weird that you do. You seem to imply that this was a junket of some sort. Is it Las Vegas that you object to, or just the gathering? If they did this in Columbus, Ohio would you be as upset?

I'm dying to know what kind of job you have and how your PD is paid for.

My guess is that this poster is a teacher. The question that has not been answered, though, is from which cluster.

Where are you getting your information that there were 200 participants??? Do you just make things up as you go? I work in Cluster 5. I can assure you that none of the Cluster 5 principals were in Las Vegas last week.
