I'm due in January and hoping to have a VBAC. I'm wondering any if one out there took Susan Messina's classes in prep for a VBAC and what your thoughts are.
FWIW, I have 5 hours! of pushing experience and two years ago took a birthing class with Birth N Babies + lots of prenatal yoga. So, I'm not a novice, but, as a former Ironman triathlete, I know the value of having a training plan and getting my head wrapped around it. My c-section occurred since labor wouldn't progress and baby developed complications. |
I"m not VBAC (obviously), but I start her class next weekend, so I can report back on how the overall class is.
I'm doing the 4 day summer class - it filled up VERY quickly (someone in my yoga class tried to get in, due around the same time as me, and couldn't). Also, she's very open about her class and easy to contact...so maybe shoot her an email and see if she provide advice? She flat out told me not to take the longer class because it ended too lose to my due date, for example... |
Hi,
I just took Susan's class. While I loved it and loved Susan, her class is geared towards first time moms or first time natural labors. All the people in my class were first time moms. My concern is that the class would bore you since it would be covering a lot of what you know and would spend time dealing with a lot of FTM questions. Especially since you already had what sounds like a natural labor. However, Susan is wonderful. I would contact her and see if she has advice. I think she also does private classes/sessions which might be helpful to do something focused on your vbac. |
I am intrigued by the updated curriculum her website mentions based on a book about natural birth in a hospital setting. (Took her class and loved it, but before this update.) Any comments on the book? I probably don't need to repeat the class if we have another, but the book might be an interesting read. |
