Very happy with my Simple Human trash can. Has held up really well and the butterfly style is so narrow it fits well in my relatively small kitchen. We just use regular trash bags (Glad, Heft, whatever is on sale). I don't know if ours has a spot for excess bag material. If it does, we've never used it and haven't had a need to.

We had the Costco version first for a year and it totally fell apart, even though we don't abuse our stuff. Bought the Simplehuman to replace it and there's no comparison in quality. SH is just made so much better. BTW, Costco is aware of the problems with theirs, thus I returned it for a full refund.
