Panty hose to interview?

Yes. I've been critical of young men in slightly off attire (bad shoes, wrong socks, bad tie) during law firm interviews.

seriously?

So hugo boss of ferragamo black loafers are a no-no?

is the italian style of tan or oxblood shoes with grey or navy suits also a 'point off' even though it is more tasteful in a fashion sense than black shoes?

do you take points off for the interviewee not using a full-windsor knot?

wait, i am totally clueless- what do you mean by mens shoes w/out laces being 'green'?

she is saying the men are "green" (young and inexperieced) bc lace-ups should be worn with a suit. slips-ons are more casual, so worn with a sportcoat, or w/ shirt and tie but no jacket.

Nope.

And I got two offers.

As long as you are dressed professionally, its not needed.

Bare legs are prohibited by our office dress code.

companies these days have zero reason to be anal about this shit when the most productive and innovative companies out there....google, apple, microsoft, facebook, etc all have a pretty much 'no shoes, no service' code but that's about it.

as for law firms, i bet all these anal DC firms would love to have Quinn Emmanuel's PPP....their dress code doesn't hurt their rep or business.

Yes.

If someone came to an interview in our office wearing a suit but no hose, I would think they were somewhat brash. Wait until your first day and suss out what the top women are wearing. Then if they go without hose, you can too. Why would you risk something like this -- showing up at an interview where you are the only woman without hose?

In the end I think it comes down to the question of why risk it? It shouldn't be a big deal to wear pantyhose to an interview, so weare them an avoid taking the chance that someone would view this as a negative.

I am way too old for this type of BS. If "risk[ing] it" means not getting a job because you are not wearing panty hose, no thanks. Chances are I'd have lots of issues at a place like that. Bullet-dodged, I say.

IT has the lowest threshold for office dress codes.

I had an interview at MS once 5 years ago and my interviewer showed up in tight bicycle shorts and a biking vest and flip flops.

Wow...what's with the dumping on IT. Maybe karma will hit you next time you need help when you can't figure out where the any key is on your keyboard.

Anyway, no I'm not the one without a degree. I have a BS from a well regarded university. I have been working in IT for over 15 years and wear a suit to a job interview, but I refuse to wear hose anymore. Too passé.
