I did this commute for a few months to downtown. There are commuter bus lots all around Reston that go directly to West Falls Church Metro. From there it's Orange Line all the way in.

Silver Line isn't opened yet, right? Until this happens, there are still bus lines to WFC. Check out the Fairfax Connector webpage for info on that. I used to drive to the Wiehle Avenue one from North Reston, but that is where they built the station. There are several others in the area, though. There are even busses that ran through North Reston, but the times weren't super convenient for me.

There is also the Herndon-Monroe lot, which is off of Fairfax County Parkway/Sunrise Valley.
