Claude Moore isn't open on Mondays this time of year.

Our 6 year old has loved Mount Vernon since she was 3. Every visit she discovers new things. You could take a boat down and back and have a full day of history. Check the website and see what is happening. She loves going when the pigs and other animals have just given birth. She was sad when she found out George had died but she was 5 when she heard the docent say George had died in that room. She was the one asking all of the questions. She said, You mean George is dead? It was a surprise since he is in all of the parades and the races at the Nationals games.

Wheaton Regional Park, the mini train and carousel are open spring weekends already, it's only $1.75 a ride and they have a big playground. Right near Brookside Gardens and a nature center if you need something else to do.

Orange/Ablemarle counties. So much history, especially presidential homes. Then you can relax with the kids at a vineyard
