Does anyone worry about name brand items making your kid a target for theft?

It happens--but you're right there is the exaggeration factor. My dd told me that along the path between Deal and Wilson is where a lot of kids have dropped their phones and then when they lose them they tell their parents it was stolen, because, punishment. Also, I walk our dogs in mornings up onto the Deal Field and I have, on more than one occasion come across a NF puffer jacket and expensive BG sweaters and PANTS EVEN, strewn onto the perimeter of the playing fields.

TL;dr: Kids, whaddyagonnado?

I can't speak to DC or NoVa, and maybe this the wrong thread for this, but in RoVa, specifically in Richmond and Norfolk there are students still getting robbed of their shoes and/or coats by groups of thugs with pistols. Scary, especially for freshmen.
