If you had one, where did you Babymoon?

First Italy
Second Spain

Can't drink in both = torture.

Went to Italy at 18 weeks with my first pregnancy. Would like to go somewhere with this one but won't be able to until after 33 weeks so it'll have to be closer to home. Maybe a beach cottage? I'd love to do Cape Cod but think it's too far. Any suggestions for similar spots closer?

We are headed to London for our pre-baby vacation. We've had some good trips in the past to B&Bs in central VA and the Shenandoah (of course, one of our main activities was always wine tasting, which is a bit limited at the moment).

We did not go too big because I would have been too sad not to have a drink on a 'big' vaca, but we went to Hilton Head and Savannah. Both reasonable and we had a great time...went in April when I was about 17 weeks w/my first. Charleston is in the same neck of the woods and is nice also!

Bora Bora and Amsterdam/Portugal/Frankfurt. Recommend traveling in second trimester.

We did Puerto Rico and stayed at the St. Regis. It was beautiful and the spa was amazing. Also love the W at Vieques.

well, we can't drive to Europe - our "honeymoon" idea was 2 weeks in Europe (I lived in Denmark and traveled extensively, so wanted to share my second home with my DH). But we can't afford it, nor do we have the vacation days for that. My "vacation days" = my maternity leave so we're trying to plan it around my furlough so I can at least not use leave. Savannah is also a long drive.

I can't go hiking in Italy, or to London given the expense. So I'm sort of relegated to the Northeast. I've thought about western mass (as it's beautiful), but my SIL lives there and I don't want to visit family. That's not a vacation!

Do you like to hike? What about the Poconos? Western, Mass is nice but if you are willing to drive that far, what about Providence or Cape Cod?

jindc -- Prev Poster here (I was one of the ones who has been to Inn at Perry Cabin) go to the Inn at Perry Cabin and enjoy!! They have specials -- and like you said - you haven't had a "real" honeymoon. I felt like I was far away but it was only an hour from DC - tops. they filmed Wedding Crashers there and everyone loves to talk about it! You can sit by the pool and do the spa and sit out on the porch and read. Thereis a small town that is cute and quaint. Like onother poster said - we ordered pizza in one night from the local pizza place. We did breakfast every day at the restaurant which was amazing. Call and ask if there are any current specials or discounts.

if you do Annapolis, which we LOVE!!!!! The westin and Lowes are both 4 star hotels so if you go to hotwire an dpick 4 star or above - 99% chance you will get one or the other (I am almost positive that those are the only 2 4 star hotels) and it'll only be about %90 bucks a night. My husband and I did that all three times we stayed there. great restaurants and site seeing and the little boat rides and sunset sailing trips are awesome. heck, do both this summer!!

Went to Belize early in my second trimester because I wanted something a little more adventurous. It was absolutely lovely.

I think we're going to do it! I talked to a reservations rep there and got the info on prices. She said that unless we wanted everything in the babymoon package, it wasn't worth going that route and instead picking a larger room with a lovely soaking tub in the "spa" package (comes with a spa credit and breakfast credit). My husband won't really care if he gets a massage, and it'll be hard for us to spend $130 on dinner since we're vegetarians (not eating crabs yet going to St Michael's is stupid according to my mom). So we'll have to investigate further (do I really need a detox smoothing and pregancy magazines? I can bring my ipad and sit in the soaking tub!)

We're currently trying to decide between two and three nights. It depends on my DH's leave availability.

Poppy again: dude, go there and ENJOY. Just checked out the website and what a heavenly place that looks like! That soaking tub sounds glorious...

Seriously, you didn't have a honeymoon, revel in every minute. Our babymoon was really a combined honeybabymoon since I was knocked up at our wedding. Hope your DH can get the leave so you have three nights!

I love all these people who came on here just to show off that they went to Europe. It's kind of cracking me up.

I think more should become generous benefactors for another person's trip to Europe or Bora Bora.

But Poppy - based on people who replied that they've been to Perry Cabin and it really was as good as it looked, I've made the executive decision that that's where we'll go I appreciate the feedback from those who have been there (or commented about a trip being worthwhile)

Hey Jindc! It's Nugget from the October board! I haven't had a chance to update in awhile but DH and I were just talking about the same thing. Thanks for posting! There are some great ideas on here!

We were also looking at deals for Puerto Rico...we wanted to do something either domestic or a US territory in case there were any complications while we were gone and hopefully our insurance would cover. I guess I should check on this. Anyone have any experience with using BCBS federal on international travel?
