| What was the former middle school head like? |
| Nice guy, but afraid of parents and the board. Didn't make decisions. |
| The new head will be a refreshing change and I know will be welcomed enthusiastically. |
| I just hope that she'll be treated well. |
| Landon still has a long way to go towards diversity. One female wont help them become more welcoming to black and brown students, staff and teachers |
| Agreed. But this new woman is certainly not the only women or person of color in the Landon community. |
How do you know they still have a long way to go? Does your son attend Landon or is this just conjecture? |
| My DS attends Landon. They do have a distance to go. |
| Still, every step helps. Hiring a woman as a division head is a statement, and more importantly she sounds like a talented educator. |
| Wow. She is White btw...and extremely credentialed. If you want more diversity donate to Fa. Landon looked pretty diverse on my last visit. |
| I think it is sad that this is news. |
Why? Very few female division heads at all-boys' schools-- this is noteworthy in the rather limited context of DC area private schools covered by this thread. |
To PP's who pushed back at this post, maybe I'm wrong, but I actually took this post as a joke that was essentially trying to make the same points you made.... It seemed a 'dig' to our generally male dominated society (or at least male 'slanted' society) where these sorts of questions are asked of women in power and not of men. |
