Doing bikini line waxing at home?

Anonymous
I will wax a lot of things at home, but I have found that you should leave the bikini to the pros. If you need help with a "clean-up" if you haven't gone to the salon for a while, I use regular Nair to do the initial, which gets things more smooth.

But I'm Mediterranean, so hair removal is always a big issue.

PP, I am Mediterranean also. I currently shave, and it's annoying. I have to shave basically every other day because the hair grows back so fast and is really dark and thick. How long can you go between waxes if you get it done at a salon? Have you ever tried waxing at home? Does it really work on thicker, darker hair? I have had no luck with those waxing strips on my upper lip and eyebrows, for example. They don't seem to remove the hair at all. In fact, any sort of cold wax product doesn't seem to work for me. I admit I am a bit embarrassed to go to a salon, but I am to the point where I might get over it because I can't take having to shave so much.

Also, how does Nair work? Do you still see the dark dots of hair under the skin?

I have a wax done about twice a year and epilate the regrowth. It hurt the first few times but the hair is now damaged so it is very fine and slow growing. It barely hurts. I epilate about once a week and it only take 5 minutes.

FWIW I have a lot of very thick, very dark hair.
