Wagner/Griswold cast iron cookware would like to disagree with Lodge about being the only American brand...

I use mine almost everyday. I keep it nice looking, so I just leave it on the stove top. If I do want to put it in the oven, it's my weight-lifting opportunity for the day. LOL. I like the big one with the regular big handle, plus the smaller handle on the opposite side.

These are not only the best, and healthiest cookware, but also the most inexpensive. The fact that they are American-made means the workers are earning a living wage, unlike most Asian factory workers. Lodge is headquartered in Tennessee, so I appreciate the opportunity to buy the highest quality product, and support our economy at the same time. What's not to like?

I bought our skillet at RIE, my favorite store. I think it was about $25. You can also get them at most hardware store. Lodge is the only American-made source of cast iron cookware.

Resently, Alton Brown of "Good Eats" featured the company on his show.

Interesting to know. I've never seen it in any stores though. Do you know where it's sold?

Never heard of them either. Which state are they manufactures in?

I have a Lodge cast iron pan (bought new 15 yrs ago & kept seasoned/never washed with soap) and a full set of my grandmother's Wagner Magnalite pots. Both are fabulous- you'd never know the Wagner pots are from the 40s.

One thing about cast iron--you've got to explain its care to the nanny. I had two nannies in a row scrub through the seasoning down to the metal. My annoyance at having to start over was tempered by feeling bad about all that work they put in, and being impressed with their industriousness.

You don't.

I've been cleaning mine with soap and water. Do I have to season it again?
So, to clean....do I just rinse with water?

Yes. Just rinse w cold water. Scrape off any hard food residue with a nylon pot scraper.
