Thoughts on Chevy Chase HGC

As the teacher, don't you need a break to eat? These children are real gems, but you treat them as a pile of pebbles.

Yes, they should be responsible at a 4th grade level. Not 7th grade. My child was not in the HGC. There are threads on recess on this forum.

How many kids go to the CC center - meaning, how many 4th grade hgc kids are at chevy chase? Do these kids spend all day together or do they switch classes? Is it one classroom of kids or two?

They switch and mix with other kids for specials one hour a day. They have to sit together at lunch.

And denying recess if you forget to have your parents sign your planner? Come on. I don't recall having these kinds of demands until 7th grade. I think kids are more ready for them then.

They're not supposed to deny recess. It's against policy - not to mention being a dumb idea. Report it.

My child's second grade teacher requires an agenda and denied recess for all sorts of things. She also called the kids names but that's another story. It was not against school policy so I'm not sure who it could be reported to.

It's two classes (about 50 kids) per grade. There are usually 4 non-HGC classes per grade.
