Um, I know exactly what MRSA is...perhaps your post was to edify those who do not. Both my then 2 yo AND my sister have had MRSA. My sister described something similar to what OP described over the phone a few years ago. Based on what she said, I suggested that she go in ASAP to have it checked. Well, she thought I was over reacting. By that same evening she could barely walk and the skin looked as if it would burst with pus. She said it was extremely painful when the doctor drained it and she wished she had gone in earlier before it progressed. Sheesh! I so wish that the snarky people of DCUM would have a sense of decorum when posting to these boards. You don't have to rip a post apart (complete with eye rolls!) just because your opinion differs. |

| Dd used to get MRSA infections and they were exactly what you have described. See a doctor |
| Thanks everyone. Very luckily, it seems to be going down in size. I am so relieved. |
| Subcutaneous cyst or ingrown hair. I bed cyst and it will probably come back at some point down the road. In the last 10 years I've had one 3 times in the same place. |

I agree with cyst or ingrown hair.
Unluckily for me, I'm a picker and get great satisfacion from performing surgery on myself for these type of problems. |
| Unless it is getting worse, and the redness and swelling is radiating, then it's probably a boil or ingrown hair. Hot compress for 15 minutes, then again if it doesnt' draw the pus up. You can gently squeeze, but don't pick. Also, wash hands before and after, and use hydrogen peroxide and neosporin. You don't want it to turn into MRSA! |
| Another vote for ingrown hair. |
| Just go get it checked out. I had something exactly like that a few years ago, and even tried popping it to no avail. It was some sort of benign cyst (about the size of a small marble). I ended up having it removed. |

Warm compress
Pop it like its hot SQUEEZE (hopefully an ingrown hair will appear and fall out with all the ooze) Hydrogen Peroxide (alcohol would burn like hell) Bandaid if possible |
| Also make sure it isn't molluscum contagiosum, which spreads and takes forever to go away. |

Go to a doctor.
If it's an ordinary infection, then there is nothing to be embarrassed about, they will treat you and that's that. If it's the kind of thing worth being embarrassed about, well then you'll be glad you got someone to look at it rather than carrying an undiagnosed VD around. |
| Infected hair gland...or impacted whatchamacallit it i get them very so often normally when working out... Sweat gland maybe. Warm bath soaking and they tend Togo away but I like to squeeze them and watch. Lol |
