They are the different divisions of the Town of Cheverly. Ward 5 is mostly the apartment complexes on Route 202, and the other Wards are the single family houses in the rest of the town. Many of the children at Spellman ES. come from the Ward 5 apartments, but plenty of kids in the other wards go there as well! http://www.cheverly-md.gov/Pages/CheverlyMD_Council/wardmap |
| Are there any recent reviews for Gladys noon Spellman. My husband lost his job and we are in a catholic program at this moment. We are thinking of next year going to Gladys noon Spellman. Any reviews on the student behavior, academics?????? |

My daughter is currently in K at Spellman and we are having a great experience so far. I have been impressed by all the faculty, staff and administrators at the school. Principal Holiday will reply to your emails promptly if you need to get information from her. The PTA is becoming more active and offering all sorts of events that are usually open to the entire local community.
As far as behavior, I think that it is pretty typical for a bunch of Kindergarteners. From what I see at drop off and pickup, the older kids are also well behaved....I haven't seen anything that concerns me. I'm sure that Principal Holiday would be open to having you come and observe a class or to volunteer at the school for a morning so you can get a feel for the place. In order to volunteer you need to get a background check if you don't already have one....I think it costs $7. There is a yahoo list serve GNS_Families that you can join if you want to find out what is going on. |
| Thank you I really appreciate your comment and honesty. I will check out the group and also see if I can come in for a tour of the building. I really appreciate your comment. I have heard great things about the principal. |
OP what grade would your child be in next year? I have heard good things from neighborhood parents about many of the K-2 teachers. |
