So does he have it? Or is he loosing his mind and doesn't?
|
| OP: He has it, I think. But the whole approach worries me. Too many questions? why now? Why hold this back? etc. |
| ^^something that liquid in his state of mind is concerning. |
Like that. |
| You have a serious communication problem in your relationship. This doesn't surprise me as you seem completely incapable of communicating here too. You are making no sense at all. |
| Is he referring to his work 401k or something? I have about that in my work 401k and my wife probably doesn't know the value since it is basically on autopilot. I look at the statements once a year or so and she never does. |
| LOL @ DH for being so silly. Why would he ever tell you this? |
Yes, that is part of it. Thank you. We do not think about it much/often it is auto. There is more, but thank you for being nice. |
Yes, this is DCUM after all. I will not rise to your bait. You have no idea, but thanks for your input -- makes me realize I am doing well in a difficult circumstance. |
LOL- I'm a sahm. My husband came to me last month saying he was worried about being able to retire. He had no idea we'd been maxing the 401k for over 5 years. He gave me the login info back in 2003 because he wanted me to do the risk allocation, and hadn't looked at the damn thing since. Luckily I check it once a month, and it's quite healthy, but still- damn. |
| OP here: Just came from standing around shouting, calm down, calm down. OK! that does not make any sense and neither does he. But it will pass hopefully. |
| Perhaps YOU need to start saving..he said I have $250k...not WE have. |
| I am having a very hard time following what the OP is saying. |
| OP are you on drugs? |
If he is losing his job, don't go to a financial planner until he finds a new job. Keep the money liquid. But I would break it up into two or three accounts, at least one being a high-interest savings account. |
