Okay, it was really just an excuse to have an ice cream cake (YUM!) at our Super Bowl party, but it WAS his birthday, and we did have candles. And obviously, some people brought gifts.

I'd go practical (like cat toys if you know they use them) but not cat-themed stuff unless you know they also love that. The people I know who love cats the most do not care for cat-themed paraphenelia (like dishtowels, statuettes, etc.)

I have three cats. Please, no cat toys! How cheap is that for a house warming?

I have 3 cats too and am a huge catlover, volunteer with a rescue, etc. That said: I would not want a cat-themed gift for a housewarming gift! I do not have any "cat" decorations (kitchen towels, decorations, etc.) in my house and would not care for that.

Umm, if you really want to stick with the cat theme, how about a donation in their name to a local rescue, such as Homeward Trails, or a local shelter? (?)
