New flooring- Asbestos abatement?

Who did the testing, and who did the abatement?

Did you have to move out of the house during the removal? How long did it take?

We would have to tear up who knows how many layers of older floors first. Has anyone done this before and if so did you do asbestos abatement or testing? We have young kids so want to do it safely. If you did it how much $ was it?

OP, please post what you find out. We have a 300 square foot kitchen covered with at least two layers of vinyl flooring. The house was built in the 1950s, and I want to replace the vinyl floor with wood. I've been reading elsewhere and finding costs as high as $6000 for removing 300 sq ft of vinyl. This was not in my budget! I thought our contractor could just rip up the floor.

Please stop asking us how long ours took and how much it cost. Estimates are free, and they will be specific to your situation.

Please stop reading my posts if you don't like them. I'd like to find a ballpark number. Geeze, go to sleep. You're cranky!

FWIW...
I understand the issue with wanting level, continuous floors. But keep in mind that asbestos in the tile or adhesive is not dangerous to human health unless it's friable, meaning little specks floating in the air that can get sucked into your lungs. If the tile is in good repair, and especially if it's covered by a layer of non-asbestos tile, there is absolutely nothing wrong with covering it over, from a health standpoint.
Of course you want to make sure it's physically do-able, and the level thing is a consideration, as I said. But the simple presence of asbestos is not going to kill anyone.

Just throw them in the dump yourself, asbestos in tiles is bullshit, I would worry about insulation not asbestos tiles
