What can happen if you take expired GONAL F?

No problem.

Gonal-F also comes in a powder. it's what i'm using now.

my guess is that it loses its effectiveness, but i could be wrong. but my personal opinion is that you shouldn't self-medicate with these drugs. a lot could go wrong!

I would be afraid of doing it without monitoring.

The expired Gonal-F in itself will likely do you no harm, but it could exacerbate cysts in your ovaries. It is like a $60 shot--why chance it?

And to a different poster, Gonal-F does come in powder form, as well as premixed syringes and pens.

This.

Infertility nurse here, please, please do not self medicate even though the medicine is unlikely to be effective. For those that say gonal f doesn't come in a powder you don't know what your talking about, it's most common form is now liquid but it does have an unmixed version as well.
OP please do not rely on internet experts for guidance, clearly there are a lot of misinformed people who think they know more than the medical community. If you self medicate and end up with a bad outcome you have only yourself to blame.

WTF OP? Are you a complete idiot?

What can happen?

It might still be potent and you might develop several follicles and you might become pregnant with two or three. Are you ready for multiples?

It might mess with your cycle and leave you unsure about how to proceed in the following months.

It might do nothing and you've spent nights injecting yourself and peeing on opks for many reasons.

I think we all get desperate in this world of infertility. I have an ovidrel trigger in my fridge that I want to give away (now in the IVF world) but have saved just in case. I have no idea what just in case means but still it's there. We do become a bit nuts. But in this case, if you know it's time for number two, don't lose months trying things unlikely to work and that might be unsafe.

Not to mention over-stimulating yourself, and landing in the hospital.

Donate the meds to your clinic. Non-expired, they can give it to someone who needs it (I benefited from someone's generosity a couple times). Expired, they can use it to demonstrate the shots.

Messing with that stuff unprescribed seems dumb.

I've done this, but after I had done many monitored cycles and knew how I would respond. I was also over 40 and wasn't worried about over stimming.
