Sequestration -- do you think it will happen?

Anonymous
Here's my question. Let's assume they implement sequestration and it's in effect for the remainder of the fiscal year. What happens when Congress doesn't pass a FY14 budget by October 1 (per usual) and we continue to operate on a continuing resolution until March or April of 2014, just like this year. Does that mean the sequestration is effectively continued until a new budget is passed? If this happens, we're presumably looking at a full 12 month's worth of furloughs?

Congress and the administration haven't passed a budget in four years. They just do resolutions. Total incompetency.

I think that's right.

It's going to happen, and it's going to hurt the market in area hard - lots of layoffs, particularly in NoVA, and I even think all the housing gains we've seen this past year will level off.

And as a prior poster suggested, continuing resolutions for 4 more years mean 4 more years of furloughs etc.

I think it will happen and we are not in good shape to handle it. Definitely stressing me out.

It won't happen but should to cut the worthless agencies not related to defense and security. You should check out some of the ridiculous sub agencies that should just be rolled up under the main one and eliminated...
violence against women (does it need it's own sub agency?), christopher columbus , arthritis, Citizens' Stamp Advisory Committee etc.
