I think most have cellular and battery back up nowadays.

True , PP, but you pay extra for that. Also, because many phone carriers are forcing their customers to go to digital phones, if you lose power you are hosed. Some digital phones also have a back up battery, but they last a fairly short period of time, as does the cellular back up on the alarm system. When we are out of power for a few days as we have been because of summer and winter storms over the last few years, then you have nothing.

Don't do ADT. It is no bargain and you don't own it so if you move, buyer has to sign on too or you have to get ADT at your next house.we had Potomac Security put in a system and monitor it. Not cheap but reasonable and we own it.
