Would this be considered a McMansion?

If it's in DC it's not a mcmansion in the burbs, most definitely.

I think it's just an attractive house.

Acc'd to my SIL who is a real estate agent in that neighborhood, "YES, that is one honkin' McMansion."

It feeds to Beauvoir.

unless there are 42 other similar looking units built next to it, otherwise, not a McMansion.

At 3.8 million, looks a regular city mansion to me.

hahah exactly. I did that experiment a couple of weeks ago. People kept calling a place a mcmansion which I swapped the pict for a place in dc and then put a place up in dc and said it was in McLean and it was called a mcmansion.

HILARIOUS!@

This has been debated so much- that is a mansion, there is nothing "mc" about it!

A small lot does not a Mc - Mansion make. Have you folks not ever seen the Mansions in Kalorama, NY Upper ES, Belgravia in London, ..... Those are real mansions, aka nice homes.

This is a normal city lot in upper NWDC. This is just a big NEW city house. Nothing makes it a Mc, unless you think it is lacking aesthetic architectural design and built with inferior materials. Not everyone likes new homes ( including me) but that alone doesn't make a Mc.

The small lot is not the ONLY requirement. The McMansion must have a small lot AND have a garish, overdone, yet cookie cutter look to it. It's like pornography--I can't always describe it, but I know it when I see it.
