Delaware beaches... what to do if you go as a family and stay only for the weekend?

OP here: thank you all for your suggestions! We went to Chicoteague years ago and really liked it. I guess we wanted to go to DE or Cape May for something different, but since we literally just bought a house, we can't swing paying top dollars to stay at nice places. Plus, even with kids, we're really not into rides/games/boardwalk type things. We're more into, let's get up early, enjoy nature, go for walks, look for shells, etc.. Thanks again!

We go to Sea Colony in Bethany. Not the most interesting, but they have lots of affordable options and amenities that are perfect for kids. We do long weekends at the big towers right on the beach (condos with separate bedrooms and full kitchens), which also have indoor and outdoor pools. Rehobeth isn't far and the town of Bethany has restaurants and some shops.

I have found places on Craig's List, local families that rent out their family vacation homes for certain weekends.

Are there any proper suites hotels in that area? I mean ones with a separate living/sleeping area?

Thanks, I hadn't thought about that!
