First time mom - do I wake a sleeping baby?

Anonymous
OP here. My ped wants me to wake him every 2 hours during the day to feed him so he'll sleep longer at night. He also said that my breast milk does not have enough calories and this is why DS needs to eat so often. I've started supplementing formula. Waking every two hours is exhausting for both of us.

I feel like we're going backwards. We were on a great 3 hour schedule then all of a sudden for days DS wanted to eat constantly - snack and not eat full meals. I applaud women who can breastfeed like this, but I can't. I'm going crazy. I'm feeding him all day and holding him. I literally have no time for myself. Going batty.

What does he mean your BM doesn't have enough calories? How are you supposed to fix that? As an about-to-be-breastfeeding new mom, I'm very curious.
