FYI there are nicknames for all MoCo high schools: Sherweed, Blairajuana, Crimestein, Northweed ... it's just a teenager thing. I wouldn't base any decisions on this. And FWIW there are PLENTY of drugs at the vaunted "W" schools too. |
are we really judging high schools based on kids smoking weed or things being snatched from lockers? C'mon, I read these posts and wonder if some of you actually went to high school. Numbers are what they are but the numbers show that from both a college entry exam testing standpoint and from a success once entering the work force standpoint, kids from Sherwood perennially rate in the top three of Montgomery County High Schools. Some of
you are speaking of Sherwood as if expectations are along the lines of Crimestein or even worse Quince Orhcard HS but active/involved parents and honest insiders with knowledge of MOCO high schools acknowledge that 2 of the top 3 MOCO high schools are far from the i |
Really? Their SAT scores are 45 points below the county average. What tests are you talking about? |
"We" aren't. But some private school twit is doing the judging. Take that into consideration. They look down their noses at any public school. |
I would certainly have no issue with my kids going to whitman, WJ, or churchill but kids from poolesville and sherwood out performed (test scores) every other MOCO high school during the 2011/2012 school year so perhaps we need to rethink our perceptions of what the best school districts are in this area and being a good distance from the beltway may not be such a bad thing after all. I was equally surprised to see a couple of schools I perceived as being top tier at the bottom of the rankings for the 2011/2012 school year (quince orchard, wooton both in bottom 3) |
What test scores are you talking about? Not SATs since Wootton's not in the bottom 3 for that. Are you talking about HSAs? Not sure anyone cares about those. |
WTF are you all going to do when your kids go off to college? Hint hint: there's lots of sex and drugs in college dorms |
