Watch the video the school system produced about 2.0. At our school, the parents burst out laughing because it is completely unintelligible. Bureaucrats run amok - MCPS. |
I've seen the video. What is unintelligible about it? |
Can somebody post a link to the video? |
DCUM is the only place I see people voicing negative opinions about 2.0. Do you get out much or speak to other parents? I have friends in several scools in MCPS who hate 2.0. I haven't met anyone who likes it (and who has a child in it). Obviously some people do like it but I wonder how much of that is love for the teacher and not the grading system or curriculum. DCUM may not represent all of Montgomery County but it is a sampling of parents who exist so if it's on here, it exists elsewhere. |
I would really like to contact someone at MCPS and talk to them about this ridiculous grading system.
Does anyone know if there is an actual petition and if there is a place to send comments? |

I have a child who attends Oakland Terrace in Silver Spring, and I regularly talk with parents before and after school and at PTA meetings. I have never discussed Curriculum 2.0 with anyone that I can recall. So far the summary of what I have heard about it on DCUM is "my 6th grader can no longer take algebra." First world problems! |
Sorry, let's try that again...

If you haven't discussed 2.0 at all - you aren't that involved with what is going on at the school OR the parents at your school aren't really paying attention. It's a pretty common topic when parents talk about school these days.
First world problems are still problems by the way. If we want to be a first world country, we have to keep challenging our kids and 2.0 isn't really going in that direction. Sure there will be great teachers who will continue to do a great job and go above and beyond. The point is that the curriculum makes it harder for them to do that. |
