Are any parents organizing to speak out again 2.0?

Anonymous
Watch the video the school system produced about 2.0. At our school, the parents burst out laughing because it is completely unintelligible. Bureaucrats run amok - MCPS.

I've seen the video. What is unintelligible about it?

Can somebody post a link to the video?

DCUM is the only place I see people voicing negative opinions about 2.0.

Do you get out much or speak to other parents? I have friends in several scools in MCPS who hate 2.0. I haven't met anyone who likes it (and who has a child in it). Obviously some people do like it but I wonder how much of that is love for the teacher and not the grading system or curriculum.

DCUM may not represent all of Montgomery County but it is a sampling of parents who exist so if it's on here, it exists elsewhere.

I would really like to contact someone at MCPS and talk to them about this ridiculous grading system.

Does anyone know if there is an actual petition and if there is a place to send comments?

I have a child who attends Oakland Terrace in Silver Spring, and I regularly talk with parents before and after school and at PTA meetings. I have never discussed Curriculum 2.0 with anyone that I can recall. So far the summary of what I have heard about it on DCUM is "my 6th grader can no longer take algebra." First world problems!

Sorry, let's try that again...

If you haven't discussed 2.0 at all - you aren't that involved with what is going on at the school OR the parents at your school aren't really paying attention. It's a pretty common topic when parents talk about school these days.

First world problems are still problems by the way. If we want to be a first world country, we have to keep challenging our kids and 2.0 isn't really going in that direction. Sure there will be great teachers who will continue to do a great job and go above and beyond. The point is that the curriculum makes it harder for them to do that.
