Assault Weapon Ban needs to be retroactive

We're not talking about hunting rifles used in sports or even hand guns that some people have for home protection. We're talking about military style assault rifles that can fire hundreds of bullets. These shouldn't just be banned for sale, they should be illegal to own.

There simply is no legitimate usage for these weapons and too many crazies are stockpiling them.

Agree completely.

If you are using a semi-automatic .223 rifle (the type commonly referred to as an assault weapon) to defend yourself against intruders in your home, you are an idiot who doesn't know half as much about firearms as you think you do. Plus, you're endangering your family and others who live near you. Quite possibly, you're so stupid that you shouldn't be permitted to own anything more deadly than a butter knife - you certainly shouldn't have a gun, or a car.

I think we all know who the mental patient on this board is. Look in here, PP

And YOU are the reason people want to lock these guns up. Totally creepy answer that makes you sound unfit to own a gun.

So what you're saying is that if someone broke into your home while you were there, and God forbid when your family is there, you would not feel justified in defending them?

This is exactly what this person meant. Which is why the statement made includes "who break into my house", which, by the way, is a crime.

No, I am saying that people who talk about "hunting humans" are creepy, do not have proper respect for human life, and should not be trusted with guns. Humans are not wildlife, and that poster's comment makes him sound like those sicko soliders that went hunting Afghan civilians for sport: http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2011/mar/23/us-soldier-admits-killing-afghans

Unfortunately there are many, many people who hunt humans. They are called sociopaths and don't just use guns. Bundy, for instance, used a crowbar and depended on female empathy.

He might not have worded himself to your liking, however that does not take away his right to defend his family and his property in his own home.
