How do I make my house smell good?

Philosophy and Aveda candles are wonderful. Clean, natural smell. Believe they are soy based so there is no black soot or smoke.

Forget anything that will just mask existing odors - they will eventually fade. This is what I suggest:

1. Remove all fabrics and carpeting that came with the house.
2. Get a good professional cleaning (make sure they vacuum your vents)
3. Check the HVAC system and have the filters replaced (they get pretty yucky)
4. If the house is damp, get a dehumidifier
5. If you have not already done so, have the house checked for mold
6. On dry days, leave your windows open.

Good luck

I have an Archipelago stick diffuser in Arugula. Great clean smell that's not sweet. But I don't think those diffusers give off enough scent. I also bought several plug-in diffusers from Mrs. Meyers Clean Day (sold at Harris Teeter, Container Store, and Target, but full selection available online). I love the Lemon Verbena scent...just smells like clean to me.

I second that suggestion. (or third, whatever)
