+1 for Reid. I feel like you/he will constantly be correcting people if it's the other way.

I'd avoid confusion by going with the more popular spelling on SSA.

It's not true that the top poster has only ever met people named Reid as a first name? How on earth would you know that?

I like Reed better, because I like "nature" names.

This makes me sick. My 3yo is named Reed (we debated about the spelling too), thinking it was an uncommon name, and now it's going to become the next Aiden. Lovely.

For your purposes, OP, I think that either spelling is fine. I don't think either would be confusing to anyone.

My friend also has a 3 year old Reid. I would go with Reid over Reed. I would expect it to become more popular. Baby name wizard had a very positive write -up regarding it and said it was a name that should be more popular than it is
