Might be worth calling and seeing if you can get out of the reservation. I'd go for the nicer hotel (but I'd also prefer not to be staying at the same hotel as the inlaws...)
FWIW, I live in LA now and I have stayed at most of the hotels discussed, including the Country Inn and Suites. It's just meh, ok. Not awesome, but was clean and nice enough for a trip there with the kids. It will be fine if you have to stay there. So, it will be fine! If you really want to ditch it and want other ideas of good hotels, I'd suggest The Ritz or the Westin. Or Monteleone but those rooms are older and smaller.

Definitely call and ask to get out of the reservation...there might just be a $20 penalty or something.
I let my in laws pick hotels (motels) exactly twice...once there was a hot tub next to the bed the other time I could not sleep because the room was so dirty. Never again will I make that mistake. |

Try to call and change your reservation to a future date and then call back tomorrow to cancel. This usually works!
At least you realized it before you paid for a nonrefundable Priceline hotel!
