OP here. How does Burgundy deal with active children? No, no ADD/ADHD so don't jump to conclusions

What about The New School of Northern Virginia? I don't think they start until 4th grade but it's something to keep in mind for later.

Depends what you mean by "active." Burgundy gives kids a lot of outdoor time: multiple breaks for playing; free range of great play areas, woods, paths, etc.; lots of fort-building, hide and seek in the woods, and soon. Also, all classrooms are freestanding buildings so kids also walk (or run, or skip!) from class to music or PE or whatever. They burn a lot of energy that way. So if by "active" you just mean a high-energy kid who loves to run and p,Au, Burgundy is great. If active is a euphemism for "behavior issues," Burgundy is to very tolerant of repeated acting out: kids do get counseled out if they can't listen/can't sit still/can't stop swatting other kids. There are a few kids I know of with ADD at Burgundy though, who seem to do fine; I've heard some parents at that the teachers are very good with (mild) attention all issues. |
