"It's a pleasuare to have DC as a student..."

OP, after a few years and the second kid, we realized some teachers will say this unless your kid is actually biting the other kids.

Oh my goodness, couldn't it just be that it really is a pleasure to have the child in class? Not some coded language for why your child is somehow insufficient? This is not something to worry about.

These kind of kids honestly aren't a dime a dozen anymore so I wouldn't say that comment is necessarily overused - except to their own parents I guess.

+1 We are friends with several teachers. Sadly, these kids are rarer. If they give other specific comments - , responsible, empathetic, kind either in report cards or conferences, I would take it as truth.

Most schools have a list of comments to chose from. So, that's probably why you keep seeing it. Hard to personalize a report card, when you are picking from a list.

that's my point! why do schools either bother with such list? and why do the teacher even use them, especially in higher grades? and in the very 1st sentence? and on a child who routinely needs redirection and extra time to complete tasks? it means squat...

So, is "So-and-so is a sweet child" also on the list? Because we've seen that often.

I hear it, but I appreciate every time. I also will sometimes hear, I love having your child in my class. When my older one was a tot the teacher made it clear she did NOT enjoy having my child in her class. Luckily we found a better place, but ever since dealing with a teacher who only had negative things to say-I'll take any positive even if it is said to everyone.

It sounds nice to me ...why overthink it?
