Would you recommend an e-reader/tablet for a 10yr old?

Everything does not need to be electronic. There is something wonderful about real books. Your boy has his whole life to be immersed in electronics.

Because I work overseas in the summer and take my 9 year old child with me. He reads about one 300 + page book every two days. Last summer, his suitcase was over weight at the airport due to books and then I spent about $300 buying books written in English ( after spendig a half a day treeking around trying to find a books store with a large selection of classics and popular recent titles in English), most of which are marked up 50-100% in a non-English speaking country.

what products avoid the exposure to the light that keeps people awake? I also don't want access to video games for DC . Does the Kindle nook allow a kid to highlight passages and read reviews or is it just a straight reader?
