Do NOT quit. Get laid off so you can, as everyone else said, get unemployment.

Is unemployment based on where the job is, or where you live? I thought it was where the job is. I used to live in dc but lost my apartment and am now crashing with a friend in va but that is not my residence.

No shame in being phased out due to reorganization, and future potential employers will understand your situation. Another "don't quit!" vote. And good luck!
