Halloween rants! Candy for infants? Teens w/o costumes?

Anonymous
sorry OP, Seinfeld and Lewis Black are funny- your rant isn't.

I have always assumed parents who come to my door are more interested in showing off their cute babies and receiving compliments than in my cheap drugstore candy. And I for one can not get enough of seeing babies in costumes, it makes my night! hey, I love anyone in costume- kids, babies, sulky teens, parents- anyone who embraces the holiday spirit is A-OK by me.

Then why would they accept the candy?

uh, because it would be really weird to walk up to someone's door and say "trick or treat," followed by "no thanks," when offered candy?

If you went up to the door not wanting candy, wouldn't you just say " Trickin!' ". That's probably one word you don't want to use while holding your baby on display.

I think it is crazy to walk up to a door with a baby and say "HI" and then walk away. Of course you take the candy. And OP, once you turn your light on, you don't get to pick and choose who is entitled to candy. If there's a baby in costume on your doorstep, give the kid some candy.

You sound like a grump!

This! Wow, now we have an age limit on Halloween?

I promise to try this and report back (what could go wrong?).

What about the mini van that pulls up on the cul-de-sac? Out pops a dozen "devils" and like Taz, they sweep all the houses, pile into the mini van and move on to the next street.

Yeah, those kids should be denied Halloween.

Really people - Halloween is 2 weeks away. Let's save the rants until after it has happened. Maybe this will be the year you get no babies and no teens.

Actually we really did say "Oh no thanks, we're just saying trick or treat"! when taking our little ones around. It's not that weird and people appreciated being able to keep the candy for visitors who'd actually eat it.

OP here. I already said I love Halloween. I would not dream of not handing out candy! I just think it's odd that parents would be collecting candy with babies, but I would always still drop a piece in the bucket if they were holding it out.

we absolutely did and my husband and I ate the candy. So much fun, our boys were a chilli pepper, a husk of corn and "super-baby" as infants

This is how I feel. Teens, babies, adults. Whoever wants candy gets some.

Our street seems to be aging our of ToT. So babies and teens, c'mon over and get the free candy in Downtown Silver Spring. We had too many leftovers last year.
