What $1.4M can buy you in Kensington

It is a very tight knit community with built in buyers who were raised there.

That's the kind of community spirit that attracts me, so Kensington's on my short list. -Not this house, though!

I agree with the others. Totally fugly house. I would pay 700 for that and not a dime more.

Definite community spirit as long as you are catholic, republican, and send your kids to holy redeemer (otherwise you are sort of left out).

My Republican, non-Catholic sister with kids who didn't go to HR would agree with this. We both grew up in the area and had no idea when she moved there that this neighborhood was so clannish. They have made a few very good neighborhood friends, though.

Wow. Very ugly from the curb. Feels more like a condo or apt. on the inside. I don't know the neighborhood to get a sense of location over style, but this would just not appeal to me.

For $1.4M...I'd rather go buy an $850k house and put a great addition on the back and/or a lot of renovation $$ on the inside.

I don't see what you are all complaining about. Really, according to the description, it has a chef's kitchen, stunning master suite and huge. Of course, for those of us who like details, they could have put a bit of money into a real kitchen, put a little more thought into the tile in the "stunning" master suite, and a bit of crown and other molding would help along with a nicer exterior. But, hey, then they would have to put a $2 million price tag on that.

Okay, now I'm curious. What is Cedar Rook?

Cedarbrook is the local pool and tennis club.

Oh, thanks.

The ugly siding and white trim with small front accent window - exact same design. The Knowles house sat through multiple price drops and near as I can tell, was pulled off the market and now just sits vacant. So I'm not too sure about this builder's business model.

OMG I drive by that house all the time to get to my house and always think who would buy this damn thing and what were the builders thinking! And I think it was priced at like $675k? I think they found out that no one in hell was going to buy that house (design but location) unless it was a fire sale.

Ugly as hell to me and if I was a neighbor I would be so distraught to have that next or near me, but someone somewhere out there won't think so, maybe.

Where's the yard? That deck looks like it's sitting in a sea of pavement. Who the heck would want to sit out there?

Did the builder have to pick THE cheapest light fixtures he could possibly find? Note to builders and flippers: invest in decent light fixtures. Cheapo ones are the most obvious sign that you probably cheaped out on everything.

My big issues are with the finishings...totally cheap and can be bought in stock at Home Depot. Certainly not what I would consider expected in the $1m+ range
