| I always tell parents from the get go that I have a 4 hour minimum care date requirement because of time, convenience, and opportunity costs. If the applicants are good, but after speaking with them don't seem interested, that could be a factor. I do sit for families for less than 4 hours, but am always paid for 4 hours. |
| You might consider what time the local elementary school let's out and if you would be willing to have the hours before then, and try to advertise on your neighborhood list serv for SAHM of elementary schoolers or nannies of elementary schoolers looking for hours during the school day. |

PP, you don't know anything about the anonymous OP, yet you are willing to give the contact info, and name of s teenager to her. Have you lost your mind? |
|
Think about WHY someone--anyone--would have 4-6 hours a week free in the middle of the afternoon on an ongoing basis and you have your answer. Sure, some well qualified women/girls might, but there won't be many of them. Now narrow by geography and skill/comfort level with infants...it's a very small pool you are fishing in.
It's like when my husband gets frustrated with the service at McDonalds or when he calls some government info line and he gets bad info/service I remind him: there is likely a REASON they are working in this low paying shit job. Sure, there are exceptions. But they are much harder to find and they don't last long in those positions b/c they get better ones. |
| Are you offering a competitive wage? |
|
17:53 - THIS.
If you offer enough money (more than 98% of anyone else) you won't have a problem. |
Caring for an infant is a "shit job"? |
| Yes, caring for an infant two times a week for 2-3 hours is a shit job. Sorry. |
I am the PP, no I have not lost my mind. I am not going to post her home address and SS number. I was simply going to ask the OP for an email and I would give her the email of our sitter. I do not find it to be a big deal. She knows that she will not go to anyone's home without knowing who they are. If you would like her email address, it is mjedelin@aol.com. I called her and asked if I could give recommendations to other families. My name is Patrice and you can tell her that I sent you to her. |
