PTA asked to buy a tractor?

CGES and PTA member parent here. I have serious concerns about this request and would submit a "no" vote. I see no benefit to the children.

Was the request made by the current principal or assistant (to-be acting) principal?

No benefit? If the grass grew up to their ankles and your kid had to deal with it at recess you would be the first one on here whining about building services allowing the grass to grow too high.

How do the other MCPS schools manage? Are all the other PTA's buying lawn equipment or are they able to manage with the MCPS supplied products? What is CGES's special need?

No special need. He did the same at Westbrook. Why spend MCPS money when you can milk the PTA.

That is crazy; PTA's should not be asked to fund equipment to maintain the school grounds.
