I agree - this isn't anorexia. But it does sound as if you have some sort of orthorexia going on.
There's a description here - http://www.orthorexia.com/ - and it seems like you have a healthy obsession with controlling your eating that could become unhealthy, but hasn't. |
Actually, I think this is anorexia and your GP sounds clueless.

Hi OP. I am not a doctor so I am not comfortable saying if you "do" or Don't" have anorexia. However, having multiple friends with eatiing disorders, current and in the past, you have some form of eating disorder.
You definitely have control issues with food, and although you do eat (so by technical terms it might not be classified as anoriexia) you have anxiety over eating and food beyond the norm. Especially based on the fact that you log your food intake, etc. I think it would be beneficial to seek some guidance on this from a therapist to be safe. Goodluck. |
| OP, I'll second what the PP said. It sounds like the anxiety and control issues are... an issue. I'm just a random yahoo on the internet, but I think if you're concerned, it wouldn't hurt to check in with a therapist. |

You probably don't have classic anorexia, but you do have disorderded eating habits. You should seek some help from someone who specializes in eating disorders, because it's a slippery slope between where you are and a full-on problem. Ask me how I now this. I got shaken out of it during my second pregnancy (lost the first) and haven't had a problem after that. I was simply too busy to work full time, care for a baby, and be anorexic. It was three full time jobs and I can only do two at a time. I'm sure that my then-self would look at my now self in disgust, but I understand that I'm actually healthier now when I'm mildly pudgy than when I was starving myself and supermodel thin.
Good luck on getting help. |
