Blacking out (almost)
Op here. Just checked back into the thread and am surprised to see that people considering this to be serious. I didn't really think of it being my heart or a stroke - I was thinking more of a low blood pressure / sugar. I haven't had any further episodes but I haven't done any exertion since or gone to the gym. It is one of those things that is hard to go to the doctor about as it won't be happening when I am there and I find they never really take you that seriously if you are not experiencing symptoms at the time of the appointment.

I am 37, in good health, no heart issues that I know of, not overweight, no diabetes...

I will call my doctor in the morning and get an appointment.
The primary concern is that it only happens with exertion. That is what makes this potentially serious. Your doctor will understand that it is not going to happen in the office, but it is important that you relay the episodes you have been having as accurately as possible.

It is induced by physical exertion. I'd get to the doc. It could be heart.

They can give you a stress test.

OP,
Keep us posted. Call today if you haven't, it could be a serious cardiac or vascular issue.

Dr. Vassallo in Chevy Chase is a great cardiologist. Your symptoms suggest a possible heart issue. Make sure you tell your doctor it is brought on by activity. Really important. I would go to a cardiologist ASAP no matter what your primary doctor thinks.

My aunt was 40 when she started getting tired and having pre-fainting type spells with exersion. She went to her primary doctor. He first thought it was allergy related and sent her home. The episodes kept happening and after three weeks he sent her to a cardiologist for a stress test. Her heart condition only showed up on the stress test. They litterally called an ambulance right away because she was having mini heart attacks and did not realize it. My aunt turned out to have Hashimoto's disease in which her arteries were extreemly narrow and blocked. She needed double pass surgery the day following her stress test.

DO NOT MESS AROUND. You simptoms are serious. Get it checked out.

Op here. Interesting PP as I too have Hashimoto's and a great deal of fatigue (that I figured was due to the hypothyroidism). My resting ECG and pulmonary function tests were all completely normal. I am still waiting for the appointment for the exercise stress test. I am not to do any strenuous exercise until then. My doctor thinks it is just a low blood pressure issue and maybe I was drinking too much caffeine and getting a bit dehydrated as I had a big project due around that time of the black outs. I have always had low blood pressure though so I am not sure why it would be different now. However my doc took it seriously and does think that the cardiac piece needs to be ruled out first.

I'm glad you are getting it checked out. Nothing showed up for my aunt till she did the stress test. Make sure you tell the cardiologist you have Hashimoto's.
