That's great news because that's where I am currently treating. Any experience with how the injectible meds using Kaiser? How about the referral process? |
For IVF coverage, Aetna's plan brochure requires that:
"Your infertility is associated with endometriosis, exposure in-utero to diethylstilbestrol (DES), blockage of, or surgical removal of, one or both fallopian tubes, or abnormal male factors, including oligospermia contributing to the infertility" This would seem to exclude coverage for "unexplained" infertility. Does anyone else read it the same way? |
Kaiser patients only have the option of Shady Grove for IVF?? That's the one clinic I don't want to see, so I guess Aetna or MDIPA are my insurance options for this open season. |
I think I have decided on MD IPA after an exhaustive search. It seems that they offer the best benefit package for infertility. I scheduled an appointment with a new PCP that accepts my current insurance as well as MD IPA for next week so hopefully I can get the ball rolling then as far as referrals go. I am nervous about the referral process but some coverage is better than nothing at all. Plus, all the comments I've read about the cost of the drugs at Aetna really made the decision for me. Hopefully MD IPA will work with me. Keeping my fingers crossed. |
MD IPA will make you get a new referral when you start coverag with them, so just a heads up (per the office at our clinic, anyway). They have said md ipa is much easier to work with. |
18:21 - don't go with Aetna! You will pay so much more for meds and they are a nightmare to get approved and ordered in time! |
