Insanity

Same policies. Same campaign team. One had no integrity to begin with, the other gave up his integrity to win. Is that enough difference to brag about?

You know what I'm starting to think, though? That it really doesn't matter much in the end which one of them wins. I mean, honestly, what is really going to be different, in either case? Don't you think that the day-to-day lives of all of us little individual citizens will click along, for better or worse, as they always have, no matter what? Maybe we've all been in Washington too long and are too convinced of our power....when it's really Wall Street and corporate America that drive this country, not what happens in the WH and on Capitol Hill.

It might not matter on November 5th or even February 5th 2009, but when our children are adults they will have to live in the world we leave them. I'm not scared for myself, but for them if McCain wins. They might not even have the world to live in if McCain has his way. McCain is too old, too old to care what kind of world he's leaving behind. Being so close to the end of their days, some seniors become very selfish, very egocentric. You can see that with McCain, his VP pick tells you everything you need to know about this. Win at any cost, fulfill his "destiny" no matter what. In his mind Bush has robbed him of that 8 years ago and now he has the same magic wand (Rove) that defeated him, on his side - he just has to have it. I sure don't want someone like that for a president.

Gore certainly wouldn't have done half the things I wanted him to but he wouldn't have been so stupid as to invade Iraq. That's why I am firmly backing Obama this time around -- especially now that McCain selected Palin as his v.p. I am particularly worried about whether she might take us to war if something happens to McCain and she becomes president.

Interesting; the main reason I'll likely vote against McCain is that I think HE will lead us into unnecessary war. Her lack of experience concerns me; his apparent hunger for and support of war petrifies me.

PP here. I hear ya! I just figured that McCain is less likely to believe that God wants him to go to war but, you're right, he thinks he knows how to win wars even though he has never actually won one. We shouldn't trust him either.

does that resonate with anyone??

Bush and McCain are not the same thing.

It's sad that you don't see that they are. And, even sadder that the rest of us will find out the hard way, if he gets in. When he re-instates the draft, I hope they comes to your door first.

He is NOT going to reinstate the draft. How dippy can you get? Do you even know anything about him? Try Factcheck.org.

Well, if they "comes" to my door first they will know that I am one of those stupid people who are proud to serve my country and proud to have my children serve as well. So while you're sitting there on your internet in your secure little house, typing away crap about people who actually put their lives where their mouths are, we'll be keeping you safe.

It sounds like the Democratic strategy in 2000, 2004 and now 2008. Try moving to the center.

I don't think it will come to a draft. One interesting thing I have to say at a previous job where I was in the minority as a democrat, I once suggested that we should get together and donate to one of the drives geared towards soldiers returning from the war. Everyone looked at me like I was crazy. Better I suggested we could contribute money to the birthday cake fund or group lottery tickets than to help the soldiers everyone so strongly claimed to support.
