If you do pork make sure you have a second option. No one in our family eats pork and we'd only be eating cole slaw and a side for dinner then. Of course, we're not invited. |

If you're doing 1 main entree, make sure your guests all eat it. I wouldn't serve pork or seafood unless you're confident everyone eats it; otherwise, you'll feel bad as they are only eating sides and dessert.
If you BBQ, why not burgers rather than chicken, assuming everyone eats red meat? Burgers are easier to cook if you're not an expert and people will tell you if they want them cooked further. With chicken, you have to know how to cook it so it's done but doesn't burn. If you don't want to BBQ and want to do chicken, how about chicken fajitas/tacos? All you have to do is cook the chicken, rice and beans - and just put out lettuce, tomato, etc. and salsa and people will make their own. |
