| et moi aussi! |
| They could have debt and medical issues or other outlays. Anyway, I do know one family who said they were rich to a group us and then said they were getting aid on another day. It can be frustrating but I decided that they have to live with the values they have set and the moral standards that they set for their kids. I know the family isn't poor (by most of our standards) but they are receiving aid. I also think they were trying to see if my kids were on aid. The irony is that my family isn't on aid but people think we are because we don't try to keep up with the Jones. |
If you aren't misrepresenting your income to receive financial aid, that's terrific. The fact that others are has nothing to do with you. -And whether or not OP is correct about her belief, there absolutely are others who "game the system." Why would you need to take a shower because she expresses concerns about someone who probably has nothing to do with you? Schools don't release information about who receives financial aid. Nobody at either of my schools knew, nor do I think they really cared. If I found out someone was cheating, then yes, I'd care, but that's just because I don't care for cheats or thieves. |

The truth of the matter is that there are many families in independent schools who are receiving need-based aid as they have true needs.
Sadly, there are also families who "falsify" their income and assets on financial aid applications. The new Mercedes doesn't count as an asset as it's leased to a parent's business. The pricey membership at the Chevy Chase Club cannot be counted as an "asset" as it is also a "business" expense. |

This whole post is troll driven to spark hits to the site.... don't bite, people. Anyone who REALLY gets FA knows, the schools ask for and receive, not just the tax info you give them, but directly from the IRS, a copy of your filed return. Furthermore, the schools do not HAVE to award FA, according to what PFS suggests is warranted based on tax returns. The schools can offer that much, but in many instances they offer less. I am a single parent, make less than 75K a year and paid our last private $1,700/mos in Tuition. I did it by skipping meals, alternating which utility I would pay, and buying mine and my child's clothes at consignment shops. The alternative: DCPS ( not an option).
This whole thread is a hoax. |
Why wouldn't you just move? For that tuition, you could rent an apartment in MoCo and still pay utilities and actually feed yourself three times a day. |
Gee, thanks, why didn't I think of that ??? Question: how do YOU feel about me deciding how to allocate health insurance dollars as to whether or not that 4th triple by-pass of yours should be covered by the insurance pool that I pay into . Maybe you should just be denied coverage because I don't want my premium dollars going to keep you alive. Maybe you should just move to another state to get your operation. |
You go girl (or guy)!!!! |

Take a chill pill, dude. I was actually wondering why you would choose to live in a city where you would not contemplate sending your child to public school and would sacrifice food and utilities (not simply, vacations or a newer car) to send your child to private school for that amount of money. I was genuinely wondering. Especially when there are such good public school options so close by. You need to chill. |
| Don't waste your time. They will get caught. |

Confront the person. Why snitch?
Tell them if they don't come clean you will rat them out. Simple. |
|
Mind your own business. Schools assume most people are telling the truth and they aren't going to change their awards because of parent-body "whistle blowers." They will think you are crazy if you disclose your identity (and do nothing), and if you make your claims anonymously they will likewise do nothing (but will wonder who the busybody nutjob is).
