It did a last minute turn, while I watched on TV right for us-and bam! We were in a house missing a roof and tornadoes wrecked the town. I hope they cancel it for safety of attendees.

Tell me there's not a small part of you who wants to see GOP convention-goers huddled in the Tampa Convention Center, subsiating on bottled water and freeze-dried rations, much as the poor people of New Orleans were huddled in the Superdome when Katrina hit.

Of course I don't want that - but because of the devastation that would hit Tampa and the rest of Florida, not for any concern for the comfort of the convention attendees.

Resident of So East Fl. We're getting exactly as predicted. wind gust to 60 70 and bands of very heavy rain. Gage on terrace is @ 4". Incessant thunder and lightning at the moment

I am from near New Orleans and right now we are getting ready for the hit!We have sunny skies and a little wind pick up now,but gas lines are ridiculous and running out. Grocery stores are also running out of food and water. Wish us luck!
