In Bethesda, Freddy's Lobster rocks. Beats Steamers hands down. It's not fine dining and not a lot of fresh fish, though. It's an urban clam shack. Best around, IMHO.

I will check these out! Last time I searched for seafood fine dining I went to the Oceanaire based upon the online reviews and it was great! I can't always do that during the week, so low-key places are welcome! Freddy's Lobster really looks good.

Freddy's has decent lobster rolls (although too much butter) and good clam chowder. Et Voila has good mussels, so does the other Belgian restaurant across the street. Love Blacksalt - I'd eat there more often if it weren't so expensive. Also a fan of the fish sandwich at Houston's/Woodmont Grill.

In other parts of the World, the snakehead is good eats. We believe that it's good to eat the snakehead especially after surgery. I've been to the wet market to buy some before. The fish seller took one (about 18" long) out of the tank and proceeded to clogger the head. He must have whacked a dozen times to get it to die before cutting it up for me. It was yummy!

I'm with you OP! I order fish everywhere I go, Surpsrisingly it's hard to find good seafood here locally but of course you can go to Baltimore or Annapolis or the eastern shore.
Locally I have found all of the Clyde's and all of the Blacks have great seafood, their specials and their basics are all well worth it
Also, 8407 in silver spring always has a great fish option too

You must watch Hillbilly Handfishing in your spare time.

I've seen a discovery channel spot on noodling before but not Hillbilly Handfishing. Is that on another network?

PP again. Was kinda excited that the snakehead was here. We have to pay top dollar in other parts of the world. too bad I can't find them in the stores.

Not exactly what you are looking for, but we like Bonefish Grill. I believe all their fish is flown in fresh daily.

Market Lunch in Eastern Market has amazing softshell and crabcake sandwiches. Also like Mike's, on the water in Riva/Annapolis.

Anonymous wrote:Black Salt in Palisades - there is a fresh fish market in the front of the restaurant. It is pricey but good. Also, River Falls Seafood in Potomac has excellent fresh fish, shrimp, etc, and I think they recently opened an adjacent restaurant although I have not been there (yet!).

River Falls Seafood does have an adjacent restaurant but it's not new. It's called Renatos and it's been under River Falls ownership for at least 4 year The restaurant is Italian, and they have a fantastic whole "Mediterranean" dorado on the menu. We've been there 4 times for that fish. They also have a very good pasta with seafood. Can't speak for the Italian "favorites" because I've never tried them.
