Daycare Concern - overreacting?

DC #1 was at an in-home place, and while they didn't have a designated staff member observing babies sleeping, the cribs were in the living room where adults were either playing quietly with other kids, rocking other babies, or walking through to check on the babies. They also had monitors in there. I know that we all sleep at home while our babies sleep, so I'm not saying something bad will happen just because an adult is sleeping at the same time, but I'd prefer a place where adults would be monitoring to some extent while the baby slept - not avoiding the room all together b/c another adult was in there asleep.

The reason your DC center daycare had an awake person in the room when the kids were sleeping is because it is mandated by licensing.

Haha, I think I visited that same in home daycare, and although I really liked her as a person, the fact I couldn't go into the room to see the crib disturbed me and was the reason I decided not to use her. It seemed like she was scared of her husband.

That is creepy and bizarre.

Absolutely would NOT send my kids there, both because I couldn't see the whole place and because her husband was sleeping in there. Totally bizarre and would make me question everything else she might be doing.

Inappropriate to have any adult sleeping in the same room as children.

I have a home day care and truthfully my husband and I are seperated at the moment because I was always locking him out before my children arrived! There is no reason for him to be home also for him to WANT to sleep in the room with children who's parents ate paying for quality day care he has no business there!!!!!!! I would not put my child there. Also maybe she didn't show the room because she was hiding something? Small room? Not enough space for children to sleep? I have openings if you are still looking! If you read the lisencsing regulations you will find that is not a loud. Againest policy. They should be shut down for that. Children must have a seperate sleeping area in the home of a daycare.

If she is a licensed provider, please call licensing to report this as this is against standards/policies.

Seriously? I would move to a cheaper area before I put my child in a place like this.
