Silver Diner for foodies? really? I appreciate the farm-to-table idea, but fake diner food is just blah.

As much as I love the cheesesteaks at Anthony's, I also wouldn't add that to the list.

Let's see...I'd add:
Pupatella - casual pizza & gelato
Cava Mezze - surprisingly kid-friendly every time I go - amazing service plus great food for kids (hummus, souvlaki, etc.)
Elevation Burger - might be too casual though for this list?
sweet green - has great little kids' plate, but maybe not the best atmosphere?

I'm sure there are more - let me think about it more.

Second taqueria el poblano. District taco, stray cat and lost dog cafe, joes pizza (more for atmosphere), Clare and dons beach shack.

Eat bar in Arlington has a great Sunday cartoon brunch and the chef has been very willing to accommodate my picky 3 year old.

Lebanese taverna, layalina, la union, Thai Noy, sushi zen, Peking gourmet -- from a parent whose children eat more than burgers, mac n cheese and hot dogs.
