Returning to pre-pregnancy job but haven't returned to pre-pregnancy figure

Target has its own version of Spanx--I haven't tried them but I'm 99% sure they're by the same company. Might want to look into that if you end up using them a lot. The packaging looks similar, but I don't remember what they're called.

I had the same problem. I bought four pairs of pants at Nordstrom Rack in a size up - only spent about $80 - or so - they were nice pants. I highly recommend going there if you need nice professional stuff for work and Target is not going to cut it. I bought some tops on sale at AnnTaylor Loft as well. All totaled I think I spent $200. I refused to wear maternity clothes - I felt like doing that was just going to prolong the weight loss thing. I also wore the size up pants in the first few months of being pregnant with baby #2. So all in all, I felt like those clothes were a worthwhile investment. Just lent them to another friend who's post partum!

I wore maternity clothes for a few weeks, bought some cheap separates at Target/Old Navy/TJ Maxx, then realized wrap dresses are a godsend! Comfy and convenient (just scooch to the side if pumping at work) you can just cinch them tighter as you shrink.

PP here - forgot to mention at 9 mos pp, my feet are still big, and I've accepted they are unlikely to go back. I'm sad to see my old heels go, but it's an excuse for shoe shopping

Depending on how you feel about trendy, also check out NY & Company. They are pretty inexpensive and have a lot in the empire waist style that is everywhere. It's very forgiving. Also, look at skirts that are on the stretchier side (not tight, but have some give to them and stretchy-without-looking-elastic waist). And dresses-- especially with the higher waist; lots of summer styles will be on sale now. That will get you through a couple of months, and if you need longer, throw on a cardigan and leave it open until it fits right.

Don't lose heart. When I finally got around to buying new shoes 1 year postpartum, I had to go up a size. Two years (an another baby) later, I'm back to my old size. Don't toss them yet!!

Don't laugh but Sears carries reasonably priced clothing that it is acceptable. They seem to have redone their lines of clothing and their sizes tend to be more generous. Same with Dress Barn -- these clothes got me through early pregnancy when my own clothes were starting not to fit anymore but it was too soon for maternity clothes, especially at work. Sears also carries Lands End clothing now.

Seven months later, I am pre-pregnancy weight, but not pre-pregnacy shape. Most of my pants don't fit anymore or don't fit the same as they used to. Many tops are too tight b/c of BFing (I hope). My fingers are still swollen and I can't comfortably wear my wedding band and engagement ring together yet but I am hoping this will change over time.
