| A piece of art? Doesn't have to be too expensive, but something meaningful that you'll think about when you look at it hanging on your wall. |
| Check out trapeze classes a friend does this and she loves it! She is well over 50 btw |
| Try a new hair style. It's something that photos from this time will remind you of the period when you achieved X but will grow out and you can go back to what it was, or you can decide later to keep it. And if you keep it, then that will really mark when you came through the hellish year. |
Why not learn to do something fairly frivolous and just flat out fun? Like scuba diving, sailing, kyaking, rock climbing? You can definitely do tons like that in DC...take a few days off while kids are in DC or school and go for it.

http://www.terrapinadventures.com/ DH tried this (I was preggers at the time so I don't have any direct experience) but he said it was AWESOME!!! ---- We also just did the Warrior Dash (5k with a serious dose of obstacle course). It SUCKED for every step of the race...except for the last one. Then the fact that I actually made it through made it one of the best experiences in my life. Here's a link to something similar: http://www.mudfactor.com/map-maryland-2012_1/ |
Ditto a piece of jewelry or a handbag you've always had your eye on... a daily reminder of what you've accomplished. Congrats
